Dear Falcons and Falcon parents;

It is time once again for the Falcons Annual General Meeting. For those of you who would like to get involved with Falcons Field Hockey organization and help put your stamp on the club…here’s you chance! We have a few positions opening up on our executive, but you don’t have to make a huge time commitment to help out. We are looking for volunteers to help out in many capacities.

Next year is the Falcons 50th Anniversary in Delta, and we’d like to celebrate. We have some ideas, but are always open to suggestions from our membership,the AGM is the place where we can get the ball rolling! Anyone who’s ever planned a 50th birthday/anniversary knows that it takes a village!!!

Come and join us for some coffee and cookies to learn more about the club and where you could make your mark!

If you are interested in an executive role, please contact Wendy Childs @ wendy_childs@telus.net

When Field Hockey Nationals are held in Surrey’s Tamanawis Park next week, 11 Falcons Field Hockey players/alumni will be gearing up in their blue and yellow to represent BC.
Six girls and five boys Falcons were selected to various BC teams. Tessa Everett and Taylor Katsube will represent at the U15 level. Jessica Goodfellow, Bailey Mitchell and Eve Carrothers at U18 and Annalise Poohachoff at U23. Notably Taylor is the youngest age eligible to play on a U15 team! On the boy’s side, Falcons alumni Brendan Guraliuk and Rowan Childs will represent at U18 as well as Jake Manwaring, Chase Marshall and Eric Holsher at U15.
Falcons Field Hockey has a long history of producing high performance field hockey players. The likes of Rob Short, Mark Pearson and Sara McManus have all been stand out leaders on national teams, and have lead the way for others to follow in their footsteps. U18’s Brendan Guraliuk and Rowan Childs are part of the Junior Development Squad currently gearing up for the 2020 Junior World Cup. Childs was also part of the 2016 Field Hockey Junior World Cup team last December in Lucknow India and was the youngest player in the tournament. For a small club, Falcons Field Hockey punches above its weight! For the first time Field Hockey Canada is holding a festival in which boy and girls at all levels will hold their National Playoffs in one location – Tamanawis Park in Surrey June 17-25th. Come cheer on our local young athletes and experience the fastest game on turf! More details about the event, schedules and can be found at http://www.fieldhockey.ca/events-results/

Just a reminder that the deadline for registration for Women’s Fall/Winter Season is the end of this week – June 30th. The registration link is found on the HOME PAGE. For further information contact Marg Colbourne at mmjb@telus.net

This is the second year of annual Graeme Carswell award, started last year by The Carswell family to honor the passing of an amazing young man whose life was taken far to early. This years recipient has had an amazing year, being selected to the junior national squad for 2020. He has volunteered his time tirelessly both umpiring and coaching over the past 5 plus seasons and has proven to be an exemplary person in the community and on the field. We congratulate Brendan Guraliuk on receiving the Graeme Carswell “Follow your dreams” award. Thank you Brendan for your continuing time and effort as both a player and community leader.
